Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party has officially launched its chapter in Ethiopia. Addressing the media upon arrival from Ethiopia, SPLM Party Secretary for External Relations, Bol Makueng, said the party launched the SPLM Chapter in Ethiopia after conducting an orientation training for party members in the neighbouring country.

The SPLM interim Secretary-General, Peter Lam Both, and Bol Makueng, accompanied by a delegation from the party, had travelled to Ethiopia to attend the first Congress of Prosperity in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“The SPLM Chapter has now been opened in Ethiopia and is supported by party members in both countries,” Makueng said.

He further said the Deputy Chairman of the SPLM Party, Dr. Wani Igga gave a remarkable speech outlining the good relations between the two countries and the ruling parties of the two nations, assuring Addis of continued relations.

Engagements in Addis Ababa

Makueng added that the SPLM delegation while in Ethiopia conducted a series of meetings with Ethiopia’s ruling party and the SPLM interim Secretary-General, in which they assured the leadership of the Prosperity Party of good bilateral relations between the two ruling parties and the countries.

“SPLM is very popular in Ethiopia and there are many people who would like to register and join the party. Overall, the visit was a success, and they are committed to working closely with the ruling party. We shall exchange visits and share information, and the two governments will work together, “Makueng stressed.

The ruling Prosperity Party in Ethiopia held its first congress on Friday last week under the theme: “From Challenge to Elevation”, which also saw the Secretary-General of the People’s Rally for Progress (RPP) of Djibouti, Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, in attendance among other delegates from the ruling party together with their South Sudanese counterparts. The SPLM Chapter is a political wing of the ruling party.
