Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Al Wehida will fly Western Equatoria (Yambio-LFA) flag at the 2022/2023 South Sudan Women’s Cup.

The booked their ticket to the national stage after pulling off a ‘miracle’ in a cup final.

Al Wehida beat St Joseph Women’s FC 3-0 to lift their maiden with a maiden cup Yambio Local South Sudan Cup trophy.

Doris Woduapai scored a brace in an entertaining final.

Yambio Local Association President, Joseph Ndepi, congratulated the girls who took part in the Yambio South Sudan Women’s Cup and worked tirelessly to ensure the win.

He described the competition as that which is aimed at bringing Western Equatoria State women back to the days when the region was known for producing female talents.

“The women’s football competition itself is changing, and that can be witnessed by these finals. The new team, St. Joseph, has been dominating for so long, but now we have new champions.

“They played with Nile City in the semifinals, which they eliminated, and went into the finals to win, which is great,” the president stressed.

Ndepi called on the fans to be patient as the local football association is doing all it can do in order to make them proud in the National South Sudan Women’s Cup.
