Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A Member of Parliament representing Western Equatoria’s Tambura County in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, has condemned killing of three civilians that occurred on the eve of the New Year.
Clement Juma Mbugoniwia the County Member of Parliament statement said the murder of the three civilians along Mangburu-Tambura road last week was a provocation and work of anti-peace elements who seek to derail the on-going peace process.
‘’This cold blood killing of innocent souls is a provocation and the work of anti-peace elements seeking to derail the on-going peace agreement process and implementation in the Country,’’ Clement said
Tambura County has experienced a violent conflict in recent months that resulted in the death of over 200 civilians, burning of 300 houses as well as the destruction of education and health facilities. The conflict also displaced over 90000 people leaving them under desperate situation without medical, shelter and feeding services.
The MP said the security situation improved in the area over the past months after President Salva Kiir Mayardit directed all armed groups that were accused for having involved in the conflict in Tombura including SPLA/A (IO) forces to report officially to their cantonment areas in Maridi.
“As area MP, I hereby condemn in the strongest possible term this barbaric act and call on the authorities to investigate the murder and bring the culprits to book. I also call on the State government to respect the directives of the president ensuring that the armed militia expeditiously vacate Namutina,’’ he said.
