Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Torit Health Hospital has received eight boxes of bed sheets and other assorted medical equipment, at a time when the facility is still trying to pick itself up after one of its key donors pulled out.
The hospital also received wheelchairs, among others as part of the donation from a local Christian organization.
The state hospital has been in a crisis of medical supplies since the Health Pool Fund withdrew its support for South Sudan’s healthcare last year.
“We are so grateful to be here in Torit, with the supplies that we brought. So, we are so grateful that these supplies can be a blessing and help many people in this state,” Gabriel Lagu, the national director for New Life Ministry in South Sudan, said after handing in the medical equipment to the hospital.
The newly appointed facility’s medical director, Mustafa Lokuru said: “it was the first donation since the health pooled fund withdrew its support.”
Meanwhile, the newly appointed acting director general in the state ministry of health, Mrs. Clementina Lubuya praised the management of New Life Ministry for providing medical supplies to the state hospital.
