Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Assistant Inspector General for Traffic Police has advised motorists to prioritize public safety by avoiding intoxication and obeying traffic laws while driving.
Lt Gen. James Ruot Wuor also asked motorists and the public to assist relevant authorities in working collectively for everyone’s well-being.
“Drivers, riders and everyone have been advised to prioritize safety and or assist all the concerned authorities in working collectively for everyone’s well-being and that of our beloved country,” the traffic official told Eye Radio on Saturday.
“Within the jurisdiction of national traffic police, the office of assistant IGP for national traffic police has put together a few notes or guidelines for all road users concerning their safety and that of common citizens.”
He directed that cars with covered number plates and those without number plates must be stopped and interrogated.
However, he says motorcycles lacking the registered number plates should register to avoid disruption on roads.
General Ruot further says all VIP roads are only for VIP automobiles and not for public transport.
According to him, an average of seven to ten people die monthly due to motorcycle accidents in the country.
In September 2022, the Traffic police recorded a total of 106 traffic accidents that occurred across the country in one week, of which 3 resulted in death, 121 in injury, and 58 in damage, police have revealed.
