Africa-PressSouth-Sudan. Turkish Maarif Foundation has unveiled a plan to set up an international school in Juba to provide quality education to South Sudanese children. Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan, Erdem Mutaf told journalists on Tuesday that the school will be a world-class international primary and secondary with a principal facility.

“Turkish Maarif Foundation is a government institution dealing in the education sector and they are willing to set up an international school in Juba with an international curriculum and South Sudan curriculum incorporated,” Mutaf told journalists after his meeting with the Minister of General Education, Awut Deng Achuil in Juba on Tuesday.

Ambassador Mutaf said the foundation has the necessary resources required to set up an international school in Juba, adding that they are just waiting for the green light from South Sudan authorities to start the work.

“The foundation has all resources and would like to invest in the sector as soon as possible if they get the green light from South Sudanese authorities, they would be able to start operation in a short time,” he stated.

He said the project will create employment opportunities for South Sudanese. “They will bring some directors from Turkey but most teachers will be locally employed in South Sudan and it will give chance for South Sudanese teachers if this school is set up in Juba,” he said.

Awet Deng Achuil, Minister of General Education reaffirmed her ministry readiness to support the project of setting up an international learning institution in Juba.

“We will do our level best to facilitate the team of Turkish Maarif Foundation to be able to establish school like what they are doing in other parts of Africa,” Deng said.

“We talk of setting up an international school here in Juba and later on it will go to other regions. The input of international in South Sudan is very important for our children,” she added.
