Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The ruling party, SPLM, has nominated 21 more members to join the political bureau, pending approval by the National Liberation Council.
The list contains national cabinet ministers, members of parliament, and other figures from the party’s top brass.
Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the minister of presidential affairs, and his counterpart from the environment docket, Josephine Napwon are some of the ministers picked for the party position.
The party’s interim secretary-general, Peter Lam Both government chief Rebecca Okwaci and the presidential advisor on security affairs, Tut Gatluak are also on the shortlist.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit leads the list of the members of the political organ followed by the vice president of Economic Cluster – James Wani Igga.
The others are: Daniel Awet Akot, Kuol Manyang Juuk, Jemma Nunu Kumba, Deng Alor Kuol, Taban Deng Gai, Simon Kun Puoch, Nhial Deng Nhial, Margaret Leonardo Itto, Rebecca Nyandeng Mabior, John Koang Nyuon, Awut Deng Achuil, Paul Mayom Akec, Akol Paul Kordit, Abocha Ali Malou, Kosti Manibe Ngai, Rin Tueny Mabor, Benjamin Bol Mel, Margaret Mathiang Deang, Stephen Dhieu Dau, David Yau Yau, Tulio Odongi, Mark Nyipuoch Ubang, Africano Mande, Kuol Athian Mawien, Angelo Ugwaag Arun, Rizik zackaria Hassan, Mary Apai and Tor Deng Mawien.
President Kiir was slated to chair an ordinary sitting for the National Liberation Council at Freedom Hall in Juba on Friday. It is during this meeting that the newly nominated members expect to be approved by the NLC.
