The government of Unity State kicked off-road construction to enhance the mobility of goods and services to the locals in the state.
In an interview with The City Review on Thursday, Gai Jiek Jor, Unity State’s Information Minister, said the state government expects new development in the state in 2024.
“The state development under the leadership of H.E Dr. Joseph Manytuil has just started as the governor paid a visit to the roads connecting the Unity headquarters, which is Bentiu town, to the southern part of Unity State. That’s to say, Koch, Mayendit and Leer consecutively,” he said.
He said the reconstruction of Tharjath-Mirmir roads is in progress, adding that the state government is committed to renovating all the roads connecting counties to the state.
“As a government of the state, we are in a position to make sure that the road construction to the counties is fully connected to headquarters. And this was our priority as the state government to do in the first place,” he stated.
Jor noted that the state government is increasing its efforts in ensuring road network connectivity in the state as most roads were washed away by flood.
“This is a project that involves all the construction of the roads in seven counties within Unity State. This is the first step that we have kicked off in the southern part of Unity State, whose roads were cut by the water during the rainy season,” he stressed.
“We are trying to recover the roads as we start as a project, and we will continue to make sure those roads are recovered and our communities enjoy the services from their government as our commitment.”
The government of Unity State launched the Tharjath-Mirmir road construction and inspected the Thowath-Thiec moorage in Mirmir Payam, Koch County.
