Unity state receives over 1,000 doses of J&J Covid-19 vaccines

Africa-PressSouth-Sudan. The ministry of health in South Sudan’s Unity State says it received about 1,600 doses of the Johnson and Jonson Covid-19 vaccines on Wednesday. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the state caretaker minister Stephen Tot Chieng said: “We have received doses of J&J vaccines for coronavirus in Unity State. But, we have not yet fixed the official date for launching and administering the vaccines in the state. But, we will let you know soon because we are waiting to arrive today and we shall discuss the official date of launching the J&J vaccines.”

He said the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a single-shot vaccine and said only those who have not been vaccinated at all, are eligible for it. Tot urged all the frontline workers including the health personnel, elderly, teachers, and the youth to turn up for the vaccinations once the ministry announces the date. Mid last month, the United States donated 152,950 doses of the single-shot Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine to the people of South Sudan.
