Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A student at the University of Juba has survived an alleged food-poisoning by his Ugandan business partner.

26-year-old Mariak Malith and his business partner were about to take breakfast when the unnamed workmate injected Sulfuric acid into his porridge.

“They sat in custom and that Ugandan man ordered two cups of porridge and then he went to shop to buy two sackets of Tania so that he can put in the porridge,” Lual Malith a family member of the survivor said.

“And he injected the poisonous substance to one Tania and then this guy put it in his porridge. After the guy started eating, he vomited immediately.”

Mariak has reportedly worked with the foreign partner for almost 6 months, importing clothes from Uganda to South Sudan.

He stated that his brother was demanding the foreign businessman at least SSP 540,000 – which he was supposed to receive on January 5, 2023.

But the unnamed man reportedly keeps delaying the payment.

The family believes that the young man was poisoned because of the money he was demanding.

However, the suspect has been arrested.

“The man wanted to run away from him but the people who were there arrested him. He (Mariak) was poison because this Uganda man wanted to go away with the money such that this man cannot demand this money again.”

A medical report seen by this outlet shows diagnosis of toxic battery substance containing sulfuric acid.

Mariak Malith is in his third year pursuing Computer Science and Information Technology course at the University of Juba.

When contacted for a comment, the police spokesperson, Major General Daniel Justin said he was yet busy to speak to Eye Radio.
