Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Upper Nile State governor, James Odhok Oyay has directed all its civil servants in Juba to report to their duty stations in Malakal “with immediate effect”.
Oyay said the latest directive required all governors and chief administrators to seek travel permission from the presidency before travelling.
The move, he said, aims at ensuring improvement in service delivery efficiency.
“Effective from Tuesday of 6th February 2023, all the Upper Nile state government officials including the Ministers, Advisors, MPs, Commissioners, and Members of Independent Commissions are directed to report for duty in Malakal town,” partly reads the governor’s directive issued in 6 January, 2024.
While opening last year’s governors’ forum, President Salva Kiir urged the relevant governance institutions to develop mechanisms to ensure governors submit their reports to the National Council of Ministers for scrutiny as constitutionally mandated to establish minimum standards for state governance in the country.
