Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Yei’s Mission FC suffered a 3-1 loss on Thursday, sending them out of the 13th National South Sudan Cup.
Quick two goals in the space of 10 minutes in the first half gave El Merriekh FC the lead over helpless Mission, thanks to brilliant goals struck by forward James Jack and defender Omot Sebit in minutes 28 and 38, respectively.
Dominic Abau added a security goal in 75 minutes to guarantee the pool’s berth with six points and a 6-3 aggregate after winning 3-2 in the first leg,
Mission’s Sebito scored cancelation in 84 minutes to make it 3-1, but that has never helped them stay in Juba, as their fans blame the club’s organizers for not preparing the team for competition.
Even though Mission supporters prayed at the last minute for their guys to upset the driven Bentiu side, God decided to stand with Bentiu’s moneybags. Of course, God helps those who help themselves.
Mission FC were outplayed by the impressive El Merriekh side, who might have had more goals with better finishing.
This result eliminated the Yei giants from the 2024 National South Sudan Cup competition.
El Merriekh has now joined Juba Champions, one of the tournament favorites, in the next round, waiting for another two teams between the Super Stars of Bor and Calvanic of Nimule, as well as a game between Gudele FC of Terekeka and Volcano of Torit.
