Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Zimbabwean Ambassador to South Sudan, Kossam Mupezeni, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramadan Goc on Tuesday.
The duo stressed deepening ties between the two nations with a focus on education, agriculture, and mining.
According to the statement issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Goc praised the longstanding relationship between South Sudan and Zimbabwe, expressing optimism about the future of their relationship.
Highlighting Zimbabwe’s notable advancements in education, Goc proposed collaborative efforts to provide training opportunities for South Sudanese teachers.
“Zimbabwe’s progress in education is commendable. We look forward to forging partnerships that will enhance our educational sector through shared expertise and training opportunities,” Goc stated.
He also underscored South Sudan’s keen interest in benefiting from Zimbabwe’s rich experience in the agriculture and mining sectors, where Zimbabwe has demonstrated significant proficiency.
“South Sudan is eager to learn from Zimbabwe’s successes in agriculture and mining. These are crucial areas for our economic development, and we believe there is much we can achieve together,” Goc added.
Meanwhile, Amb. Mupezeni acknowledged the historical bonds between the two countries, recalling Zimbabwe’s support during South Sudan’s period of war, including hosting South Sudanese refugees.
He highlighted Zimbabwe’s ongoing assistance, having trained over 200 South Sudanese professionals in various fields such as agriculture, education, banking, finance, and mining.
“Zimbabwe has always stood by South Sudan, and we remain committed to supporting your nation’s growth. Our shared history strengthens our resolve to work together for mutual development,” Mupezeni said.
The ambassador reiterated Zimbabwe’s readiness to continue providing support and expertise to South Sudan, stressing a commitment to enhancing cooperation in critical sectors.
The discussion between the two officials marks a significant step towards reinforcing the partnership between South Sudan and Zimbabwe, with both countries looking forward to a collaborative future aimed at mutual prosperity.
