Africa-Press – Tanzania. MINISTER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, GENDER, WOMEN AND PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, has given an opinion to the stakeholders of the Women Doctors Association of Tanzania (MEWATA), to provide education to the community on sexual violence against women and children.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam at the opening of the 21st general meeting of MEWATA, which is held every year, Dr. Gwajima, has said that the important thing right now is to reach the people, especially in rural areas where a large number shows that most of them do not get education about sexual violence.
He said that there are some places here in Tanzania that still continue to mutilate female children regardless of the challenges they may face and cause them to lose their lives and even end their life’s dreams.
“MEWATA, your biggest responsibility is to look at how to reach the community by providing various educations about sexual violence, but I ask you to continue to cooperate with the government to help the issue of maternal and child health being safe at all times.” He said Gwajima.
On the part of the Vice President of the Association of Women Doctors, Dr. Mary Sando, has said that it is good that we continue to have intellectual systems that will help solve the challenges that arise in society, there are those who kill each other and break up marriages but oppressive traditions, child mutilation still exist in this country, MEWATA is your responsibility to look at the best way to reach the community and give it education.
