Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR: MEMBERS of the ruling party CCM’s Central Committee (CC) have endorsed Mr Khamis Yussuf Mussa as its candidate to contest Kwahani Constituency by-election, scheduled for June 8th this year in Zanzibar.
The by-election follows the death of Ahmada Yahya Shaa, who was the Member of Parliament for the constituency. He died on April 8th this year, when attending Bunge session.
According to the press release issued and signed by the party’s Ideology, Publicity Secretary Mr Amos Makalla, after the CC meeting held here under the CCM National Vice-Chairperson-Zanzibar Dr Hussein Mwinyi, the members also appointed Ms Suzani Kunambi as the new Secretary of the CCM Women’s WingUmoja wa Wanawake Tanzanian (UWT).
Prior to her new appointment, Ms Kunambi, journalist and broadcaster, was serving as District Commissioner (DC) for Unguja West A District.

Members of the CC during the meeting held at the party’s Zanzibar Head Office, Kisiwaindui Street, also praised President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and Zanzibar’s Dr Mwinyi, for implementing the 2020/2025 election manifesto.
Preparations for the by-election are already underway with the training of election officers, candidates’ selection forms being issued from May 17 to 23, this year, which is approval day of the candidates before campaign starts.
Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Court of Appeal Judge (rtd) Jacobs Mwambegele has asked all political parties willing to contest, to adhere to regulations and laws of the elections for peaceful and transparent elections.
