Africa-Press – Tanzania. Despite a less dazzling 2024-2025 season with Real Madrid, Vinicius Junior is already thinking about the future. The Brazilian winger, who struggled to reach the heights of his previous campaign and failed to develop chemistry with new teammate Kylian Mbappé, still managed 20 goals and 16 assists in 50 appearances.

But his efforts weren’t enough to secure any major trophies with the Merengues, marking a frustrating chapter in his career after narrowly missing out on the Ballon d’Or.

Now, the former Flamengo talent is setting his sights beyond the pitch. According to reports, Vinicius Junior has acquired Brazilian club Athletic-MG, currently sitting 15th in Série B. Based in São João del Rei, the club may not be close to Brazil’s footballing elite, but it now benefits from the backing of one of the country’s brightest stars.

Vinicius’ investment shows a clear intention to maintain strong ties with his homeland and perhaps begin shaping a post-playing legacy.
