Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their partnership in the education sector, as highlighted in today’s China-Africa Academic Exchange Forum

The educational partnership is particularly through technical and vocational training institutions, with the goal of developing youth skills that meet current job market demands and technological advancements.

This was highlighted during the Fifth China-Africa Academic Exchange Forum on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), held today, July 11, 2025, in Dar es Salaam.

Opening the forum, Dr. Fredrick Salukele, Director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, stated that this year’s agenda aims to transform middle-level and technical education by equipping youth with modern skills relevant to today’s and tomorrow’s economies.

Dr. Salukele noted that China has shown a strong commitment to advancing this collaboration by working with Tanzania in key areas such as teacher exchange programs, joint curriculum development, preparation of teaching and learning materials, and the launch of training programs aligned with international standards.

On his part, Dr. Mark Gong Zhiwu, the Director General for African Affairs at the China-Africa TVET Alliance and Head of Sunmaker Training Institute, emphasized that China will continue to work closely with Tanzania to ensure the success of TVET programs.

He said the forum provides an opportunity for educational institutions from both countries to identify mutually beneficial areas of cooperation, aiming to enhance the quality of vocational education and improve youth employment across Africa.
