Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to closely collaborate with the Institute of Adult Education (IAE) to expand access to adult education outside the formal education system.

This directive includes reaching citizens living in geographically challenging areas, with the aim of ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to access education without barriers.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam during a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Adult Education, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment for individuals seeking education outside the formal framework, particularly adults who missed out on early education opportunities.

Majaliwa noted that collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and various stakeholders is crucial in improving the infrastructure necessary for delivering adult education. He also stressed the need to incorporate modern tools and technologies to enhance the efficiency of non-formal education delivery.

Additionally, the Prime Minister urged the Institute of Adult Education to embrace innovation and conduct more research to improve the quality and effectiveness of the services offered, ensuring alignment with technological advancements and the current needs of society.

Overall, the Prime Minister’s call aims to ensure that adult education in Tanzania becomes inclusive, of high quality, and accessible to all citizens, regardless of their geographical location.
