Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA and Japan meet today to discuss various means of enhancing their longstanding partnership through various development projects, especially those implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, held bilateral talks with Mr. Ando Naoki, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) held in Yokohama, Japan.

The discussions focused on enhancing the longstanding partnership between Tanzania and Japan through various development projects.

During the meeting, Minister Kombo commended the Government of Japan, through JICA, for its strong support and significant contribution to the development of key sectors in Tanzania. He cited agriculture, energy, transportation, health, water, and human resource development as areas that have benefited from both technical and financial assistance provided by the agency.

Both leaders agreed to further strengthen and expand this cooperation with the aim of achieving meaningful development for the people of Tanzania. Priority areas discussed included infrastructure improvement, promotion of the blue economy, human capital development, and agricultural advancement, particularly through the use of value-addition technologies in crop processing.

The talks demonstrated a shared commitment between Tanzania and Japan to implement strategic projects that will drive economic growth and social well-being. The two leaders emphasized that such partnerships play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals for both nations.
