Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Chama cha Mapinduzi’s presidential candidate, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has assured the residents of Mbeya Region that her government is committed to delivering genuine development by investing in improved working and business environments.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Tukuyu District, Mbeya Region, on September 5, 2025, Dr. Samia highlighted agriculture as one of the government’s top priorities, particularly the production of avocados, which have recently gained access to international markets.
She further revealed that the government plans to establish 50 avocado preservation centers across the country. These centers will be equipped with cold storage facilities to extend the shelf life of the fruit.
Out of the 50 planned centers, two will be constructed in Rungwe District, Mbeya Region.
“These centers will be able to store avocados for up to three months, allowing us to wait until other countries complete their harvest seasons so that we can sell our avocados at better market prices,” said Dr. Samia.
Regarding the tea sector, Dr. Samia stated that the government will form a special task force to assess tea farms and factories that were handed over to private companies but have not fulfilled their responsibilities adequately.
