Africa-Press – Tanzania. CCM Vice-Chairperson (Mainland), Mr Stephen Wasira, has stated that while the ruling party continues to campaign for its presidential candidate, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, Tanzanians have already witnessed her remarkable achievements recorded over the past four and a half years.
Speaking recently dur- ing an internal meeting with CCM leaders and members in Babati District, Wasira noted that since President Samia took over leadership following the passing of former President Dr John Magufuli, significant milestones have been achieved across the country.
“Those who oppose her lack legitimate reason. Even opposition members pri- vately admit that we’ve accomplished a lot. I was part of the committee that draft- ed the 2025–2030 Election Manifesto and one leader from an opposition party called me and said, ‘I’ve read your manifesto, you’ve included everything. What are we even going to write?” Wasira revealed.
He said that the implementation of the 2020–2025 CCM Election Manifesto has exceeded expectations, with tangible results evident across key sectors, particularly in Babati, Manyara Re- gion.
“Here in Babati, we’ve built 19 dispensaries, eight health centres and two hospitals, one was renovated, but the upgrade was so extensive to the extent that now it looks new. I know water remains a challenge in the area, but the government has entrusted the relevant authority to find lasting solutions,” he said.
Mr Wasira added that these developments are clear proof of commitment and performance of President Samia’s government and that Tanzanians do not need to be persuaded by rhetoric as they can see the results for themselves.
“When we ask for votes for President Samia in the upcoming election, we do so based on facts. Tanzanians have seen with their own eyes the transformation she has brought during her four and a half years in office,” he said.
Reflecting on her rise to power after the sudden passing of President Magufuli in March 2021, Mr Wasira said many were initially doubtful of her capabilities due to societal stereotypes.
“There was uncertainty, people wondered whether a woman could handle it. That doubt was largely due to patriarchal mindsets. Some men are so accustomed to male leadership that they equate the presidency with masculinity, as if every man is automatically qualified to lead,” he said.
“But President Samia took over and simply said, ‘Let the work continue.’ And indeed, it has continued strongly than ever,” he added.
Mr Wasira listed some of the major strategic projects continued under President Samia’s leadership, including, the completion of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP), with all nine turbines now operational, significantly contributing to the national grid.
Progress on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), now operational from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, with further construction ongoing and the iconic JP Magufuli Bridge (Kigongo-Busisi).
“Tanzania is showing the world that we believe in equality, that leadership is not about gender. Our great party is proud to present a woman President Samia Suluhu Hassan, as its presidential candidate. It’s our duty to support her and ensure she wins resoundingly in the coming general election.”
