Africa-Press – Tanzania. OPPOSITION CHAUMMA parliamentary candidate for Muheza constituency, Ms Yosepha Komba has pledged to end the constituency’s chronic water shortage if entrusted with leadership in the October General Election.
Speaking during a campaign rally, Ms Komba said access to clean and reliable water remains the most urgent challenge facing residents.
“We have water sources at Hale and Magoroto, but the supply never reaches the people as it should. If you give me the mandate, this problem will finally come to an end,” she declared.
She also promised to address poor road infrastructure, noting that many routes in Muheza are often impassable during both rainy and dry seasons, undermining transport and economic activity. On health, she highlighted severe shortages of doctors, medicines and modern equipment, pledging comprehensive improvements.
Appealing for broad support, Ms Komba said her leadership would serve all residents without discrimination, regardless of political affiliation. She added that in 2020 she had already worked with communities to design a joint development strategy, which she has now published as a written commitment to be shared widely.
“This way, people can hold me accountable for what I promised and what I deliver,” she explained.
Her pledges echo CHAUMMA’s national manifesto, which prioritises health and social services. The party has promised to allocate 15 per cent of the national budget to health in line with the Abuja Declaration, roll out universal health insurance and ensure hospital patients receive meals as part of their care.
The manifesto also commits to expanding telemedicine services to rural and island communities, improving water and sanitation in health facilities and strengthening road networks to link villages with markets and hospitals.
Ms Komba urged Muheza residents to embrace the promise of change, saying: “The people deserve reliable water, passable roads and better healthcare. With your support, these pledges can become a reality.”
