Roads Water Top Kairuki's Agenda in Kibamba Campaign

Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), parliamentary candidate for Kibamba Constituency in Dar es Salaam, Angellah Kairuki, unveiled her campaign at Magufuli Bus Terminal over the weekend, outlining several priorities including improving roads and water services across the constituency.

Kairuki knelt before Kibamba residents, stressing that if they elect her, “Kibamba will shine” with paved roads and reliable water supply.

“First, we will upgrade the Kibamba–Magohe–Mpiji road in phases to tarmac standard; the Lake Victoria–Magohe–Mpiji–Bunju road; and the Mbezi–Victoria to Bunju road. I assure you this 24-kilometre stretch will be paved. From Mbezi Msakuzi to the Makabe junction we will build a tarmac road; and for Goba–Kinzudi all roads will meet tarmac standards throughout Kibamba Constituency,” she said.

Although poor roads are a major challenge for Kibamba residents, she noted that more than 30 development projects worth 50.1 billion/- aimed at improving livelihoods are already underway.

On water supply, Kairuki cited the Bangulo Mshikamano water tank, which has capacity for more than six million litres, and the Tegeta A tank, which together hold over 10 million litres. If elected, she pledged to oversee transparent water rationing, establish an effective distribution system, extend infrastructure to unserved areas, and end the problem of inflated water bills.

“My appeal is one: vote overwhelmingly for Dr Samia, vote for Kairuki, and vote for our councillors. With three strong pillars we will not be shaken. I ask you to elect our councillors; I know they have great capacity and I will work with them,” she said.

The aspirant also promised to set up innovation centres for youth, oversee improvement of sports grounds, nurture talent through the Kairuki Cup, and establish a women’s empowerment centre offering vocational skills.

On health services, she acknowledged progress but said some areas still lack dispensaries and others with large populations need upgrades to health centres, which she will address. She also pledged to promote business opportunities, training for women and youth, ICT training for young people, and job creation.

“When I sat with youth, they told me they have talent and education but no capital or business opportunities. Many want to do business but lack start-up funds. The government has done many good things, but I will take the wheel further,” she said.

For his part, CCM Deputy Secretary-General (Mainland) John Mongella urged Kibamba residents to deliver a big win for Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, Angellah Kairuki and all CCM councillors in the six wards of the constituency.

“The CCM candidate has ensured the health sector is greatly strengthened so citizens can be healthy, have more time to work for their development and improve their households,” he said.
