Africa-Press – Tanzania. CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, pledged to advance major development projects that will increase income and create opportunities for residents of Kigoma Region.

Dr Samia said that in her campaign rally held today, September 13, 2025, in Uvinza District, Kigoma,

Speaking to hundreds of residents, Samia highlighted the government’s focus on road and railway infrastructure, including the major Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project from Dar es Salaam to Uvinza and onwards to Msongati, Burundi, which is expected to open significant business opportunities and boost regional economic growth.

“Uvinza will become a major railway hub, trade activities will expand, and residents will gain more employment opportunities,” she said.

In the health sector, Samia promised to implement the “Bima ya Afya kwa Wote” (health insurance) program and to build new health centers, ensuring that services are accessible to all residents.

Regarding education, Samia noted that the government invested 19bn/- to build 31 new secondary schools and 2.8bn/- to construct a VETA college, adding that 34 additional schools will be built to expand educational opportunities for Kigoma’s youth.

In agriculture and livestock, she emphasized that subsidized fertilizers and improved inputs for farmers and livestock keepers will continue, while reliable markets will be established. Female farmers will also benefit from modern market sheds and stalls to increase their income.

In the energy sector, she highlighted that electricity connections have increased from 2,072 to 9,613 households, which is expected to stimulate economic activities, small businesses, and local industries.

In the fisheries sector, Samia pledged 442m/- in loans for fishermen to increase production and income.

Concluding her speech, the CCM candidate urged residents to turn out in large numbers on election day and vote.

“Your democratic right is the key to seeing these projects realized. Make sure you vote,” she added.
