Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has directed the Dar Rapid Transit (UDART) bus company and various government institutions under the Regional Administrative Secretary’s Office to ensure that by November 20 this year, rapid bus transit services are restored on the Mbagala route heading toward the city center.
Chalamila issued the directive today, November 18, 2025, during a visit to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations along the Mbagala corridor, where he also inspected infrastructure damaged during the unrest that occurred on October 29, 2025, the day of the General Election.
Regarding the BRT route from Gerezani to Kimara, he said the government is expediting the restoration of services so that transport can return to normal as quickly as possible.
Chalamila further stated that despite the extensive damage to BRT stations, no schools have been reported burned or destroyed.
He emphasized that the government will continue assessing the damage to public and private property in order to create a comprehensive strategy for restoring services.
Chalamila also urged the residents of Dar es Salaam to remain calm and uphold peace, unity, and harmony among themselves.
He added that it is important for the community not to view political disputes superficially, as doing so may fuel national division and create opportunities for the country’s enemies to disrupt peace.
