Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, has officially taken over office from her predecessor, Ambassador Dr Pindi Chana, as she begins leading the Ministry, which plays a significant role in the country’s economy.
The handover ceremony took place today, November 20, 2025, at the Government City in Mtumba, Dodoma. Speaking after receiving the office, Dr Kijaji commended Ambassador Chana for the remarkable work she accomplished during her tenure as Minister. She also expressed her gratitude to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, for appointing her and placing trust in her to lead the Ministry. Dr. Kijaji pledged to work diligently and with integrity to ensure the Ministry continues contributing to the development of citizens and the nation at large.
For her part, the outgoing Minister, Ambassador Dr Pindi Chana), thanked President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan for the continued trust she has shown her in the various positions she has held. She also promised to extend her cooperation to the new leadership of the Ministry whenever needed.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamad Hassan Chande, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, and the Acting Director of the Department of Administration and Human Resources, Shani Kamala.
