Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has announced a public auction of vehicles, motorcycles, forklifts and assorted office assets to be conducted across eight regions later this month, as part of the central bank’s asset disposal programme.
In a public notice issued on February 6, 2026, BoT said the auction will be conducted through open bidding at its offices and designated premises in Dodoma, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya, Mtwara and Zanzibar (Unguja).
The items to be auctioned include office furniture, office equipment, safety gear and other assorted assets, alongside a fleet of vehicles comprising Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Coaster, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Hiace, Suzuki Jimny, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Nissan Civilian Bus, Mercedes-Benz saloon cars and Isuzu NPR trucks. Motorcycles on offer include Honda XL125, Yamaha 125G, and Suzuki 125CC, while forklifts will also be sold.
According to the auction schedule, the exercise will begin on February 18, 2026, in Mbeya and Mtwara.
In Dar es Salaam, the auction will take place from February 20 to 22, 2026, at the Bank of Tanzania headquarters and an additional site near the Chole Road–Lincoln Street junction.
The auction will continue in Arusha and Mwanza on February 21, Zanzibar on February 25, Dodoma on February 26, and conclude in Mwanza (Tawi) on February 28, 2026.
The central bank said all items will be sold on an “as-is, where-is” basis. Successful bidders for non-motorised items will be required to make full payment immediately after the auction. Buyers of vehicles, motorcycles, and forklifts will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit equivalent to 25 per cent of the purchase price on the auction day.
The remaining balance must be paid within 14 days from the auction date, failure of which will result in forfeiture of the deposit and cancellation of the sale. Purchased vehicles and equipment must be collected within seven days after completion of payment.
BoT further stated that all costs related to ownership transfer for vehicles, motorcycles, and forklifts will be borne by the buyer, in accordance with the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Members of the public interested in participating have been advised that viewing permits will be issued two days before each auction date, between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The auction will commence at 4:00 a.m. at the respective venues.
The notice was issued by the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania, inviting eligible members of the public to take part in the auction.
