Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA’S participation in the Mining Indaba International conference held from 8-12 February 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, has generated new investment opportunities following high-level engagements between the Tanzanian delegation and key international stakeholders.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Mining today, February 17, 2026, noted that several global stakeholders expressed clear interest in initiating investment processes in Tanzania’s mining sector.
Additionally, the statement noted that key discussions focused on mineral value addition, with investors expressing readiness to partner with Tanzania in establishing in-country processing industries rather than exporting raw minerals.
“Other priority areas included the development of critical minerals and collaboration in advanced geological exploration. Capacity building was also emphasized, particularly in vocational skills development, modern technologies, and geoscientific data management,” part of the statement read.
Moreover, the ministry stated that Tanzania is expected to benefit from the European Union-supported PanaAfGeo+ programme, which targets to strengthen geoscientific research capacity and provides practical technical training for public officials in the mining sector.
The statement further noted that during the conference, the Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, showcased Tanzania’s investment potential, outlining the sector’s strategic direction, and clarified policy and regulatory matters.
The conference further enhanced Tanzania’s reputation as an attractive mining investment destination, reflecting strong government oversight, sector reforms, formalization of artisanal and small-scale mining, and deliberate efforts to increase Tanzanian participation in the mineral value chain.
The Tanzanian delegation was led by the Minister for Minerals, including officials from the Ministry and its institutions, TISEZA, as well as private sector representatives including the Tanzania Chamber of Mines (TCM), the Federation of Miners’ Associations of Tanzania (FEMATA), the Tanzania Youth in Mining (TYM), Tanzania Women and Youth in Mining and Mineral Industry (TWIMMI), mining companies, financial institutions, mining service providers, and other stakeholders across the mineral value chain.
