Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Mayor of Dar es Salaam, Nurdin Bilal Juma, popularly known as ‘Shetta’, has emphasized the importance of creative platforms such as Her Creative Spark in nurturing and developing the country’s creative talent.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the mayor praised the organizers of the event for their efforts in identifying and promoting emerging talent.
He noted that the specialized training sessions conducted ahead of the main event played a crucial role in equipping participants with practical skills.
“Platforms like these make a significant contribution to the growth of the creative industry by giving young people the opportunity to learn and showcase their abilities,” he said.
He further added that such initiatives help connect young creatives with key industry stakeholders, opening doors to career opportunities and professional growth.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of We Media, Winnie Nzunda, explained that the creation of Her Creative Spark was driven by the low participation of women in the film and content production industry.
“We identified a significant gap in women’s participation in this sector, which is why we established this platform to provide training, mentorship, and opportunities for women to step forward and showcase their talents,” she said.
Nzunda added that through workshops and the main event, participants gained hands-on experience and had the opportunity to present their work to industry stakeholders an important step in advancing their careers.
The event brought together emerging creatives, industry professionals, and various stakeholders.
It featured exhibitions of creative work, panel discussions, and the awarding of certificates to participants.
Mayor Juma also highlighted the importance of practical training offered prior to the event, describing it as a key foundation for building sustainable careers among youth in the creative sector.
The Her Creative Spark event was sponsored by Serengeti Premium Lite through its “Lite Your Imagination” campaign, which aims to discover and inspire new creative talent across Tanzania.
