Rorya gets donation of 280 iron sheets from development lovers

Africa-PressTanzania. THE National Housing Corporation (NHC) has donated 160 iron sheets worth about 5m/- to boost the ongoing construction of a new public secondary school at Rorya District, Mara Region.

“We are happy to hand over the 160 iron sheets today for construction of classrooms at Nyang’ombe Secondary School in Rorya as part of NHC’s contribution on social development,” Mara Regional Acting NHC Manager Ms Eliaisa Keenja said when handing over the donation to the district council officials recently.

Rorya District Council Executive Director (DED) Mr Charles Chacha received the iron sheets, saying they will greatly help to speed up the construction of the new school.

“Indeed, we thank NHC for the support and the iron sheets will be dispatched to Nyang’ombe secondary school to roof classrooms,” Mr Chacha said.

A local firm called Rex Energy also donated 120 iron sheets to support similar education projects in the same district council.

The Rorya DED Mr Chacha and other people thanked the Managing Director of Rex Energy Mr Francis Kibhisa for the support and appealed for other development partners to turn up and support the ongoing initiative of building classrooms and new public secondary and primary schools in the area.

“All these iron sheets that we have received today will help to roof several classrooms,” Mr Chacha said.

He thanked Rorya Member of Parliament Mr Jafari Chege for spearheading the initiative, which targets to end the shortage of classrooms in the district which borders Lake Victoria.

“All students who passed standard seven national examinations have joined Form One but we need to ensure all students have access to education without walking long distance by building new schools near their homes,” Mr Chacha added.
