Africa-PressTanzania. THE government has revealed its plan to promote the tourism sector using various social media platforms as a strategy to reach out both local and international markets.

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Natural Resources Ms Mary Masanja, told Members of Parliament that on Tuesday that the Ministry will capitalise on the available opportunities on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter as well as preparing videos and several films.

Equally, she said the government will also focus more on improving roads within the parks to facilitate access and smooth transportation of tourists.

The deputy revealed the strategies when she was responding to Makete MP who wanted to know the government’s plans to promote Kitulo National Park.

“By recognizing the importance of protected areas, the 2021/22 budget will focus more on tourism promotion by improving infrastructures, which include roads, airports and accommodation for visitors to attract more tourists to visit these areas with ease,” she pointed out.

The Deputy Minister said the government will also advertise the parks through a special tourism channel ‘Tanzania Safari Channel’.

She said the strategy will also include organizing familiarization trips to journalists and key tourism stakeholders with the aim of giving them the opportunity to understand the tourist attractions and promote them locally and abroad.
