Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE construction of public basketball courts in every region in the country is in pipeline, after the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) securing financiers for the assignment.
Thanks for the recent agreement that was reached this week at a joint meeting that brought together Sami Matar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Premier Betting, James Mbalwe, CEO of Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) and Phares Magesa, President of the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF).
TBF president Magesa was delighted with the agreement for the benefit of basketball that is mostly loved by the youth.
He said that the courts will be constructed by Premier Betting through the Premier Projects as part of their programs to give back to the community.
He said that in the first place, the firm will build a basketball court in Dar es Salaam while all other regions will follow at different phases.
Magesa added: “The implementation of this project is expected to begin soon.” The President of TBF has complemented the betting firm for accepting TBF’s request to support the construction of the public courts in the country.
This, according to him will help the promotion of the sport in upcountry regions.
“I would also like to thank GBT CEO Mbalwe for overseeing and ensuring that we have successfully reached that agreement ,” he said.
However, he appeals the company to implement the project as soon as possible as the federation is ready to support the move by working hand to hand to insure they reach the goal. Magesa explained that they have already contacted the relevant authorities Dar es Salaam city officials to provide the area where the public courts will be built.
He has also asked all other city councils in the country to provide public areas that will be used to construct the public basketball courts for their development. Magesa noted that the construction of the public basketball courts is just the beginning for more development to come.
He said TBF still needs support in different areas, so appeals for other companies, institutions and sports wellwishers to come forward and give out their support.
