Africa-Press – Tanzania. NBC Premier League sides continue to scale up preparations before the league’s resumption on Friday after the end of the FIFA international break in order to return with refreshed energy.

All the top three teams Simba, Young Africans and Azam have had a couple of friendly matches lined up during the pause specifically to energise their squads ready for the maximum-point hunt. Yanga opted to re-load their guns in Zanzibar where they engaged in two friendly games against Mlandege and KMKM and won both games to uphold their unbeaten status this season.

They defeated Mlandege 1-0 courtesy of Heritier Makambo who scored the only goal before Jesus Moloko and Fiston scoring in their 2-1 win over KMKM. Their Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi was impressed with the played matches even though he missed several key players who are on international duties with their national teams in the 2022 world cup qualifiers.

Elsewhere, at Boko Veteran in Dar es Salaam, defending champions Simba were held to a 2-2 draw by Cambiasso Sports Academy in an entertaining friendly battle.

On target for Simba were Hassan Dilunga and Yusuf Mhilu who netted via a spot kick and it was the first game for the newly- appointed coach Pablo Franco who used it to assess his team before the upcoming busy schedules.

The Spaniard will guide Simba for his first league match on November 19th versus Ruvu Shooting at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza where the latter have chosen to host the match thereby giving residents of Mwanza an opportunity to feel the season’s glimpse of the league as they do not have representatives this term.

After that, Simba will host Red Arrows of Zambia in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg duel on November 28th before the reverse encounter in Zambia on December 5th.

Franco succeeded Didier Gomes as the new coach after his predecessor failed to qualify the team into the group stage of the CAF Champions League following a 3-1 home loss to Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana.

Also, Azam did not let this break period just pass by as they hosted and hammered JKU 4-1 at Azam Complex arena in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

Idriss Mbombo scored a brace while Charles Zulu and Rodgers Kola contributed one goal each to enable their side come out victorious against the Zanzibar based team.

George Lwandamina’s side will face KMC at Uhuru Stadium in the city on Sunday as the latter are still struggling to cast out the win-less demon which has embraced them in all the five games they have played.
