Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Ministry of Finance and Planning has set aside special days for raising awareness to different groups on various financial issues as part of the implementation of 2022/21 – 2025/26 National Financial Education Programme.

The groups will include a financial education day for children, women, youth and small entrepreneurs as well as a day for political leaders at various levels, editors and retirees.

This was stated yesterday by the Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance and Planning, Eng Hamad Yussuf Masauni while closing the financial services week.

He said providing education on financial issues as well as other education strategies will help in achieving the goals they have set for themselves that by 2025, 80 per cent of citizens will have gained an understanding of the financial issues.

“I believe that the education you have gained through this week will enable you to use formal financial services effectively to improve your life through various economic activities and ultimately contribute to GDP growth,” said Eng Yussuf.

Eng Yussuf said in one week of exhibition they aimed to increase the number of people with a level of financial literacy and knowledge about the acquisition and use of official financial products and services as well as improved understanding and use of financial markets.

He said they also aimed to bring financial services closer to the people, encourage the use of such services as well as get feedback and advice to improve those services, which they achieved due to the number of people who attended.

“I urge you to make good use of the education you received this week to educate other Tanzanians about financial education,” said Yussuf adding let us continue to work with various stakeholders of the Financial Sector in ensuring that the objectives of this Celebration are met.

Eng Yussuf urged Tanzanians to gain knowledge and understanding of financial matters and thus enable them to create a culture of using formal financial services.
