Africa-Press – Tanzania. BONGO Flava singer, Bernard Mnyang’anga alias Ben Pol has officially joined the re-greening campaign after being appointed as ambassador and spokesman for Justdiggit, a global non-governmental organization.

The artist will work closely with the NGO, its local partner, LEAD, in raising awareness of the benefits of regreening and addressing climate change on the global scale.

“Justdiggit is extremely proud to have Ben Pol, the leading East African Artist and environment activist as a solid ambassador all over the content.

“This will help to raise awareness of the implementation of nature based solutions and consequently create an enormous impact on the regreening of degraded landscape, water availability, biodiversity and climate issues on the global scale,” Justdiggit Communications Manager for Africa, Meron Bezabeth said in Dar es Salaam.

Addressing media fraternity in the city, Ms Bezabeth said that Justdiggit and LEAD have jointly cooperated with local farmers and local communities to plant 6.3 million trees in different parts of Tanzania and was optimistic that the artiste’s ambassadorial will boost the campaign.

For his part, Ben Pol said that he felt honored to be appointed as an ambassador to lead the campaign geared to to benefit future generations.

“I have personally been an environmental activist for quite a long time and this role has come at a right time when more efforts are needed to regreen Tanzania and Africa at large. This is of paramount importance in ensuring that carbon emissions are reversed and water scarcity are also minimized for benefits of current and future generations,” he said.
