Africa-Press – Tanzania. FIFA world cup trophy has returned to Tanzania and President Samia Suluhu Hassan lifted it up on Tuesday at the State House as thousands of national remain in antincipation to see the 18-carat gold cup on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam.

Legendary Brazilian footballer Juliano Belleti, a World Cup winning defender, who is accompanying it on the two day tour in the country handled over the trophy to President Samia during a colourful ceremony at the State House.

She challenged Tanzanians notably football players and stakeholders to woke up and do better in their championships.

“Women and youth teams have been doing well in sports but the finishing has been poor…this trophy should inspire us and prepare our youth to do better,” she said.

She thanked Coca-Cola company for giving Tanzanians a chance to see the trophy before taken to Qatar.

“As a country, we are delighted to receive the trophy and I am asking the fans to turn up in large numbers for the public viewing and take pictures,” said President Samia.

The trophy will be on display on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium for public viewing and photo session.

This is the fourth time the iconic silverware is returning to the country after previous visits in 2014.
