THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo has awarded certificates to 900 graduates of various academic levels and disciplines at the Dr Salim Ahmed Salim Centre for Foreign Relations (SAS-CFR) during the Centre’s 28th graduation ceremony held at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam.
Addressing the graduates, the Minister urged them to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired as a catalyst for positive change in the country by embracing innovation, integrity and patriotism.
Elaborating, the minister said that education is a vital tool for addressing national challenges as well as improving the graduates’ personal livelihoods.
“Explore self-employment opportunities by applying the education and competencies gained throughout their studies,” he said.
He added; “I urge you to seize these opportunities. For those who are already employed, I encourage you to apply the education you have gained to be innovative and help solve citizens’ challenges through your respective duties.”
Moreover, he said that the government has directed all local government authorities to allocate budgets for loans to youth, women and special groups to support entrepreneurship and tackle unemployment.
The Chairperson of the SAS-CFR Governing Council, Ambassador Ramadhan Muombwa Mwinyi, appealed to the government, through the relevant Ministry, to consider SAS-CFR graduates whenever opportunities arise that require professionals in international affairs and related fields offered by the Centre.
During the ceremony, a total of 900 graduates were awarded certificates in programmes including International Relations and Diplomacy, International Relations Management, Peace and Conflict Management, Economic Diplomacy, and Strategic Leadership and Governance.
