Africa-Press – Tanzania. NMB Bank on Tuesday launched three new digital services in the Lake Zone regions that use advanced technology to enable its customers access banking services, including small loans easily and faster.
The NMB Lake Zone Manager, Mr Baraka Ladislaus launched the services during an event held at Rebu Market in the fast-growing town of Tarime in Mara region.
He mentioned the new services as MshikoFasta, Pesa Wakala and Lipa Mkononi.
“Our launching of three digital services here in Tarime today covers the Lake Zones,” Mr Ladislaus said at the event where he was accompanied by several NMB workers, including the Tarime NMB Branch Manager, Victorine Kimario.
He said NMB MshikoFasta enables the bank’s customers to access a loan ranging up to 500,000/- faster and easily without visiting its’ branch.
Therefore, Mr Ladislaus said the service/product is relieved to small and middle entrepreneurs including Mama Ntilie, bodaboda and hawkers (machinga).
“NMB MshikoFasta reduces the difficulties of acquiring loans and increasing capital to entrepreneurs,” he pointed out.
He further said that NMB Pesa Wakala has been significantly improved to deposit and withdraw money by using mobile phones.
According to him, the improved digital bank service targets to cover 100,000 agents within five years across the country.
“This is part of increasing job opportunities to Tanzanians,” the Lake Zone Bank Manager said.
Speaking about Lipa Mkononi, he said this is a payment system using QR codes that enables big and small traders to receive money (payments) electronically.
“Lipa Mkononi makes it possible to receive payments easily, faster and safe,” Mr Ladislaus said.
He said the launching of the three new services is part of the ongoing efforts by the NMB bank to make banking services accessible easily through advanced digital systems and contribute to the economic growth of the country.
