Government dispatches experts to investigate outbreak of unknown disease

Africa-Press – Tanzania. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has said there is an outbreak of an unknown disease in the southern regions where a number of people have reportedly to have experienced nose bleeding before falling down.

However, the government has dispatched a team of medical experts to establish the nature of the disease, causes and subsequently come up with prevention measures.

“I was discussing with Prime Minister [Kassim Majaliwa] who recently visited Lindi Region, he told me he had seen people were experiencing nose bleeding problems. So far, we’re clueless about the disease,” President said and added: “We have dispatched a team of experts to establish the cause.”

“Why would a person experience nosebleed and fall down? If it was one or two people [experiencing the same] we would have quickly concluded by saying it is a blood pressure.

“But it so many people in a row…this is a disease that we have never experienced before,” she said. “This might be caused by destruction of environment…we are destroying habitats of living organisms.”

The Head of State revealed this at an ongoing Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA)’s 20th plenary assembly in Dar es Salaam.

She commended AMECEA for throwing weight behind environmental issues.

Heralded by the theme: ‘Environmental Impact on Integral Human Development’, the conference brings together 100 Catholic Bishops from Ethiopia, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Kenya, and Eritrea
