Africa-Press – Tanzania. NJOMBE football team for students with special needs claimed Inter-Primary School title at the end of this year’s Inter-School Games in Tabora.
Njombe, who were defending their Boys title for the people with special needs, successfully defended the championship for the second time in a row.
In the final game played on Sunday, Njombe defeated Mtwara 4-2 in shootout after a draw in the normal period.
The teams stamped a barren draw after the end of the regular time.
On his side, Mtwara team’s Head Coach Shazili Nangulukuta said it was a difficult final while praising his boys for showing a good game from the beginning of the competition.
On his part, Njombe team’s Head Coach Mwakabidi Joseph said the game against Mtwara was not easy though they won at the end.
Besides the boys’ final, Mwanza Girls’ football team has also succeeded in winning the ladies discipline in Primary Schools category after beating Mara 2-1 at Tabora Boys Secondary School pitch on Sunday.
Mara’s team was the first to score a goal in the 15th minute through Vanesa Paskali, and the goal lasted only 5 minutes before Suzana Fabiana equalised in the 20th minute.
Also in the 26th minute, Fabiana netted the second goal through a spot kick and the goal lasted until the end of the match.
Mwanza advanced to the semis after defeating Dodoma 10-0 in the quarter-final game before meeting Manyara, while Tabora, who are the hosts, met Mara in the semifinal stage of the tournament.
In netball, Geita region emerged the overall winners of this year’s championship for Primary schools after beating Songwe Region 71- 27.
The match was played on Sunday at the Uhazili College court in Tabora.
In that game, the Geita region used all the chances they got when they had the ball against their rivals, the Songwe region.
Previously, before the final match, Mwanza, who were the defending champions, won the third place play off over Mara region.
In football Katavi Region defeated Geita 3-1 in a thrilling encounter on Sunday.
