Africa-Press – Tanzania. A Young Africans fan from Arusha, Idd Shaban (67) has on Tuesday began pedaling from Arusha to Kigoma to watch live Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) final match, involving Simba SC and Young Africans SC, pegged at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in the western region of Tanzania.
According to Google Maps, the distance from Arusha to Kigoma is 1,141km when someone opts the fastest route and he or she has to spend about 17 hours and 29 minutes to reach the destination by a car.
The traditional rivals Simba and Young Africans SC will face each other in Kigoma, famously known as ‘Mwisho wa Reli’, on 25th July, 2021 after eliminating Azam FC and Biashara United respectively in the ASFC semi-finals.
The Young Africans die-hard fan told Daily News that he had not been forced to make the long trip on his yellow painted old model bicycle (Phonex) and added the impetus to do so was because of his internal motive and the love for his Jangwani based club.
The former serviceman expressed his belief that Yanga will once again win the traditional derby finale by replicating what they recently did in the Mainland Premier League where they registered a slim 1-0 win against champions Simba.
When it comes to derby matches, fans of either Yanga or Simba do make extraordinarily long trips by either walking or cycling, a thing which grabs the attention of the sports fraternity.
This clearly shows that the two teams have a big number of followers across the countries that are not afraid to take daredevil adventures.
