Africa-Press – Tanzania. CAF Confederation Cup envoys Azam and Biashara United will know their destiny today as to whether they will proceed with the journey of exploring the continent or not.
The two flag carriers will be playing their decisive reverse leg duels against Pyramids of Egypt and Al Ahly Tripoli from Libya respectively hence the duo is holding spirits of millions of Tanzanians.
Basing on the first leg recorded results, Azam face a 50-50 possibility of either cruising into the next stage or not as they stamped a goalless draw versus Pyramids as such, the puzzle will be solved after the final whistle.
Practically, Azam will approach the match with no pressure at all basing on the fact that they are playing away from home whereby the away goal rule will be in favour of them. On paper though, the hosts have been given a big chance to produce good results as they will enjoy full backing from their home fans who in a game of football play a vital role but all those are merely assumptions.
Speaking yesterday all the way from Egypt, Azam Information Officer Thabit Zakaria cemented that all is well among their players such that they are looking forward to the big match.
“This is a big game which requires adequate preparations. We have had enough rehearsals such that we are just waiting for the encounter to begin and it will kickoff at 10:00pm,” said him.
On the other hand, the issue is slightly different to other confederation cup representatives Biashara United who going into today’s match, they have a two goal advantage they netted in the first leg.
If they manage to hold on, they will definitely cruise into the next phase of the competition but, in reality, this match will be difficult regardless the tangible outcome recorded by United. In their three preliminary round fixtures, the Mara based outfits have not conceded any goal and have netted five goals which is a remarkable performance from them despite making their debut in the event.
As such, Patrick Odhiambo’s men have a big opportunity to sail into the next round at the away territory but they always need to be watchful throughout the normal period of play since in a game of football, the impossibles happen sometimes.
