Africa-Press – Tanzania. FOLLOWING their exit in the CAF Confederation Cup, Azam have announced to divert all their energy into the progressing Mainland Premier League while insisting that they will sharpen the team’s striking force.

Azam suffered a 1-0 defeat from Pyramids of Egypt in the away return leg of the confederation cup over the weekend thereby farewelling the competition at a foreign soil.

A draw of any number of goals could have favoured Azam to go into the next stage of the contest basing on away goal rule but they could not manage to shake the opponents net throughout the normal period of play.

In his remarks after being eliminated, Azam Assistant Coach Vivier Bahati admitted that his side still lack goal scoring efficiency saying they missed three good scoring chances during the match.

“It is true that in the first half, we were behind the ball for a long time but unfortunately, we conceded midway into the opening half. “In the second half, we had to open up and ready for anything a situation which enabled us to find three best scoring opportunities but we failed to use them well,” said Bahati.

He continued: “As a team, we face serious scoring problems because we are able to create good scoring chances but we fail to use them. We have to work on this setback as we prepare for league games.” Moreover, Bahati narrated that they will talk with players and tell them to be sharp on the target by using well the created chances in order to score goals and get victories.

Azam’s next stop in the unfolding premier league will be at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam where they will face Young Africans on October 30th for crucial three points. It will be the first big match of the campaign and a major real test for both sides who made several player recruitments during the past transfer window by splashing heavily.

The interesting part though about this tense match is that Azam will be keen to end Yanga’s unbeaten run and to register two straight league triumphs while on the other hand, the hosts will be searching to maintain their 100 per cent start of the season.

From three matches played, the Chamazi based outfits have won one game, lost one and drawing the other whereas Yanga have pocketed maximum three points in all their three outings.
