Africa-Press – Tanzania. NMB Bank has donated various materials for construction of health centres in Nangara and Maisaka wards in BabatiDistrict, Manyara Region worth 12m/- to save the residents from walking long distances to seek healthcare services.
Speaking while handing over the equipment at an event held at Nangara Health Center, NMB Northern Region Manager, Dismas Prosper mentioned the materials as 303 galvanized iron, timber, nails, as well as fisher boards.
He said they decided to support construction of the health centresafter recognizing the importance of the community around them, adding that as stakeholders, they have a responsibility to support development efforts in their midst.
“Despite the great efforts made by the government, we as stakeholders have responsibility to support development efforts by supporting our communities as these communities are what make NMB bank be where it is,” he further said.
Babati District Commissioner Lazaro Twange commended the bank for being at the forefront of helping the community and assuring them that the donation would be used as intended.
Twange said the support has brought hope to the people on the completion of the health centre which is relied upon by the people of Nangara ward and surrounding wards.
On his part, Babati Town Council Chairman, AbdluramanKololi said the support was a good gesture that the bank appreciates their healthy co-existence.
“The fact that the division has reached or returned to us. All the councillors of Babati Town have done business and you NMB have borrowed all the loans there, we have done good business. Now the business is back to our people.
Commenting, the area Member of Parliament, Asia Halamga said the completion of Nangara and Maisakacentres would help solve health challenges in those wards and other wards.
