Africa-Press – Tanzania. Barrick Gold through the Bulyanhulu gold mine has sponsored entrepreneurs from neighbouring villages in Msalala District, Shinyanga Region to participate in the ongoing Kigoma entrepreneurship and small industries exhibitions.
The exhibition that will take place until the end of the month brought together entrepreneurs from different parts of the country.
Launched officially by the Vice-President, Dr Philip Mpango, the entrepreneurs fair was organised by the Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO) in collaboration with the Kigoma Regional Commissioner’s Office.
The exhibition aims to provide an opportunity to expand the scope of markets for products produced by small industries, to exchange knowledge and experience for entrepreneurs and manufacturers as well as to display various technologies produced in the country.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow entrepreneurs sponsored by Barrick Gold, Clementina Felix, who specialises in tailoring and costume design, thanked the company for sponsoring them to participate in the exhibition, which will enable them to learn various things that will enable them to grow their businesses.
“Through this exhibition, we got the opportunity to showcase the products we produce also get skills on the packaging, formalization of our business and open more marketing opportunities,” he said.
For his part Community Relations Officer at Barrick Bulyanhulu, Antony Sebastian said the company through its CSR policy of supporting social services in the community around its workplace has been empowering these entrepreneurs by providing them entrepreneurship education, those engaged in agriculture provided with seeds, fertilisers and pesticides so that they can run their business successfully.
Mr Sebastian thanked SIDO for organising the exhibition that brings together entrepreneurs and various stakeholders of the small business development sector.
