Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) has announced emerging artist Tunu Halisi as the winner of the BASATA Rising Star Awards, assigning him the responsibility of composing a special song for the AFCON 2027 tournament.

Speaking to Daily News, Acting Executive Secretary of BASATA, Edward Buganga, said that among the three songs to be recorded by artists selected through the program, one will specifically focus on the AFCON 2027 competition.

Buganga made the remarks during an award presentation ceremony held at the French Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam, where Tunu Halisi was officially named the winner for the month of March under the initiative aimed at discovering and nurturing young artistic talent.

On his part, Tunu Halisi expressed gratitude to BASATA and Tanzanians for their support, promising to deliver high-quality music that will resonate with many listeners.

Meanwhile, President of the Tanzania Music Federation, Addo November, emphasized the importance of the Basata Rising Star Awards program, noting that it has become a catalyst for nurturing talent and advancing the country’s music industry.
