Africa-PressTanzania. BIASHARA United of Mara aim to play in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup next season, the team’s top officials said here yesterday.

The club’s chairman Seleman Mataso said they have already started strategies to strengthen their squad in order to make it cope with tougher continental level tournament.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ‘The Daily News’, Mataso said he is aware of the difficulties in the tournament so they must plan ahead by recruiting talented and experienced players who will strengthen their squad to the desired continental level.

“Our goal is to reach at least the group stage and to achieve that we must make a strong registration to strengthen our team which has been very successful this season,” Mataso said.

He said after the transfer window had opened, their registration committee with the help of their head coach Patrick Odhiambo has already started work with the aim of finding players who will strengthen the squad.

He called upon Mara residents and various companies to come forward to support them financially and other things so that they achieve their goal.

This is the first time for Biashara United to participate in an international tournament since their Premier League promotion. Biashara United is one of the four teams that will fly Tanzanian flag in the international tournament.

Others are Premier League champions Simba and Yanga who finished runners up while Azam who finished third will join Biashara United at the Confederation Cup.

In the Tanzania mainland premier league standings, Biashara united finished fourth with 50 points after 34 outings. They have won 13, drawn 11 and lost 10 matches. They have scored 28 goals and conceded 32 goals.
