Africa-PressTanzania. Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has announced that the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup matches will be played with no fans.

A statement released on Saturday said the Tanzania’s football governing body TFF issued the order after received instructions from the CAF barring football fans from attending the matches, as one of the measures to contain COVID-19.

According to the statement, TFF had already informed all the clubs participating in the CAF organised tourneys.

Tanzania Mainland clubs participating in the CAF Champions League tournament are Simba SC and Young Africans SC while Azam FC and Biashara United are representing the Eastern African country in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, Young Africans ‘Yanga’ have confirmed to have received a letter from TFF informing them that their match against Nigeria’s Rivers United FC will be played in a closed door.

Young Africans are expected to host their rivals on Sunday evening at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

“We would like to request our fans to stay calm and watch the match through their televisions,” the Jangwani Street based club’s statement added.
