Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Premier League Board (TPLB) intends to enforce the club licensing in the 2021/22 Premier League season, insisting those which fail to meet the criteria won’t be part of the league.
This was said on Tuesday by the Board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Almas Kasongo who pointed out that this time around, they will be proactive in its effort to ensure that the requirements of club licensing are adhered.
“Our guidelines are clear on what clubs ought to do in order to fulfill the needs of club licensing that’s why we want them to be serious and consider it as a must for them to accomplish.
“For those clubs which will fail to meet the set up requirements, then the license committee will not grant them permission to parade in the top flight league because our vision is to reach higher levels,” he said. He then reminded clubs that they have obligations to recruit qualified people in their management positions as one way to facilitate good decision making procedures other than hiring unqualified persons.
Again, Kasongo narrated that enforcement of club licensing will be fully achieved since all the leaders of the teams which will play in the Premier League next season nodded to embrace club licensing.
“Our league has become very attractive such that players from outside the country are willing to come and be part of it hence it is our responsibilities to rebrand the league and make it more demanding.
The only way to reach that, we need to facilitate club licensing,” he said. However, in his past interview, Kasongo disclosed that in the upcoming season, there will not be games in hand made by teams which will represent the country in CAF games since the league will be temporarily suspended whenever the envoys will be flying high national colours.
“Our target is to have a zero game in hand fixture that is why whenever our teams will be fulfilling their CAF encounters, we will be compelled to pause the league,” Kasongo said.
He added that last season, to a big extent, the participation of Simba and Namungo in Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively, was the main reason behind the prevalence of unequal fixture in terms of played games.
“As such, we will make sure that in every round, all teams have played equal games before stepping into the next round and we believe that this will be a long lasting solution to eradicate match in hand problems,” he said.
Normal the flow of the Mainland Premier League matches in the coming season will kick-off on September 29th while the Community Shield game between Simba and Young Africans is set on September 25th.
