Africa-Press – Tanzania. Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has once again rescheduled the ruling of the highly awaited case between Young Africans against Bernard Morrison to September 21st this year.
Initially, after concluding hearing of evidences provided by both parties, CAS set August 24th as the judgement day but that did not materialise and on August 26th, they wrote an apology letter which was addressed to Yanga and Morrison.
According to part of the letter which was signed by CAS Counsel Carolin Fischer, it reads ‘On behalf of the Deputy President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division.
‘Please be advised that the time limit to communicate the Arbitral Award to the parties, pursuant to Article R59 of the Code of Sports-related
Arbitration, has been extended until 21 September, 2021.’
This means sport fans, who, are eager to see the end product of this case will have to wait for almost one month before knowing who will be the winner and loser.
It should be understood that CAS is the last destination for any sports related case to reach hence their verdict is final such that it cannot be appealed anywhere.
As such, both Yanga and Morrison should be ready to embrace whatever decision will be made on the day since there is no other place to channel their complaints if the ruling will come not as anticipated.
After joining Simba in August, 2020, Morrison has behaved in comparison with the tenure he traded at Yanga where he was subjected to frequent indiscipline
cases and boycott of training sessions and matches.
He once described Simba as the ‘University of Football’ in Tanzania which symbolically meant that his heart was always in desire to put on red and white colours which finally came to pass.
For Yanga fans, despite the bad air in between, they will always cherish Morrison after he scored the only goal during the traditional derby encounter one year ago via a superb set-piece which enabled his former club to collect maximum three points.
However, after crossing the red sea to join Simba, he has not managed to score against Yanga in all the derby encounters he was featured by his current club even though he is determined to do that against his former employer.
